Mumbai: 10th Annual 'Caring with Style' fashion show in association with Pidilite Industries was held, on 1 March at NSCI, Mumbai. Honorable
Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis was the chief guest of the event.
The fashion show featured style icons from film fraternity
and prominent figures from different walks of life, dressed in creations
of ace designers Manish Malhotra and Shaina NC. Aamir Khan was the show
stopper for Shaina NC's creations and walked the ramp along with cancer
survivors Neha and Sakshi. Sonakshi dazzled the audience as Manish
Malhotra's show-stopper after a bevy of top models showcased his
ensemble. The entire jewelry line was sponsored by Popley Eternal. The
event was ably hosted by Rashmi Nigam and Sophie Choudhary. Singers Shekhar
Ravjiani, Shaan and Meet brothers enthralled the audience with
their performances. Celebrities who walked the ramp included Zayed
Khan, Anu Malik, Varsha Usgaonkar, Tara Sharma, Prasoon Joshi, Mickey
Mehta amongst others.
New Delhi: A special catharsis and
empowerment session for Breast Cancer Survivors was organised to mark
the third anniversary of CPAA's Breast Cancer Support Group on 9 March,
on the occasion of International Womens' Day at the IRCH, All India
Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Vandana Natu, a cancer survivor,
facilitated the session by helping women connect with their neglected
emotions. Prof P K Julka, Dean and Head of Radio Therapy, AIIMS gave the
keynote address emphasizing on health, follow ups and general well being
of women and oncologists Prof. Rambha Pandey and Dr. Omna Nair answered
the medical queries.
Pune: The Elite Studio opened their doors to celebrate International
Women's Day with CPAA on 9 March. The women present shared the emotional
problems they faced when they came face to face with the Big 'C'.
Rendition of popular Hindi and Marathi songs kept everyone entertained
while they enjoyed the delicious tea and snacks served. Mr. Kochari of
Identity Events and Mita Banerjee from Writer Founder Team Miracle put
together this informative and fun filled evening together for CPAA.
New Delhi: A Cancer Awareness lecture was held on 9 March at Gurukul
Faridabad, for the beneficiaries of SOS village Gurukul, Faridabad. A
Breast Cancer Awareness lecture was conducted on 19 March at Gadhakhor,
Faridabad and on 23 April at Jindal Steels, Bhikaji Cama Place by Dr
Rajinder Kaur. Women-centric cancer screening camps were conducted on 9
March for the beneficiaries of SOS village Gurukul at Faridabad; on 13
March at Ghitorni village, Gurgaon; on 17 March at Ajay Nagar; on 19
March for women of SOS village, Gadakhor; on 16 April at Santosh Nagar,
Faridabad; on 23 April at Jindal Centre, Bhikaji Cama Place and on 30
April at Agwanpur, Faridabad.

Pune: A Cancer awareness talk was held for the Women's Welfare Centre on
10 March. Dr. Shreeram Inamdar stressed on the importance of early
screening for better and faster cure. Dr. Kokane enlightened the
audience on the use of vaccinations for cervical cancer.
Mumbai: CPAA patron Sudha Sharma celebrated her son's
birthday on 10 April in a unique and meaningful way. With her son and a
friend in tow she came to the Pediatric wing of Sion Hospital to have a
birthday party. Her son cut a cake with the young patients there and
distributed goody bags to all. It was indeed an enriching experience for
the young birthday boy.
Mumbai: A Donor-Patient Meet was organised on 11 March at Manav Seva
Sangh, Sion. 200 beneficiary patients from different hospitals such as
Cama, Nair, KEM, Tata, Wadia and Sion were invited to meet the donors
from Naraindas Morabi Budharani Trust at this event. A Magic show,
Juggler show and a Comedy show was put together to entertain the
children.
Pune: CPAA organised a cancer awareness talk for the women staffers of
the General Post Office, Pune on 11 March. Dr. Bhushan Zade conducted
this interactive session where many myths regarding breast cancer were
cleared whilst stressing upon the importance of early screening.
Singapore: The United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA),
Singapore's Cancer Awareness Global Concern organised the 4th Annual
Hair for Hope event on their East Campus on 20 March. This event has
become a perennial favourite and sees an outpouring of support, both
emotional and financial. 48 brave students and staff made a 'Bald
statement' by having their hair shaved in aid of CPAA. Several
participants collected sponsorship pledges while some participated to
honour a loved one affected by cancer. The funds collected will support
12 childhood cancer patients as well as cancer screening camps. Each
participant expressed his/her motive behind supporting this cause which
inspired the crowd to further support and pledge their contributions.
CPAA salutes the efforts of UWCSEA in being able to inculcate the
'feeling of giving' in such young minds.

Elphinstone for 100 women; Gopi Birla Memorial High School, Malabar Hill

Mumbai: On 22 April, our patron
Shaherbanoo Begum organised a toured picnic of the stables of the
Mahalakshmi Race Course for childhood cancer patients. They were
delighted to see the horses swimming, exercising and training. And as
always no picnic could have been complete without a hearty meal.
Mumbai: The UICC Asia-Pacific Cancer
Society Training Grants develop cancer control capacity in the
Asia-Pacific region. It provides selected fellows with a unique training
and development experience by providing the hosting cancer societies the
opportunity to contribute to cancer control in the Asia-Pacific region.
This year Jenita Doli Tine Donsu (Indonesian Cancer Foundation),
Muhammad Raftaz Kayani (Kiran, Pakistan) Aditya Manna (Narikeldaha
Prayas and Oncology Dept of MAS Clinic & Hospital, India) and Manjiri
Peiris (Jeewaka Foundation, Srilanka) were chosen for this fellowship to
study at CPAA, Mumbai from 21 - 25 April under the supervision of Ms.
Anita Peter.
New Delhi: As part of informal
educational activities, childhood cancer patients and their siblings
were taken to National Rail Museum on 21 April. The Museum officials
themselves took the children for their joy rides and cheered them on. They
were given a guided tour of the display of old coaches and steam
locomotive engines, giving them an insight of how the railways have
changed over the years.
Mumbai: Salva Rasool, an enigmatic
Arabic Calligraphy artist presented her show 'Elahaya' at Cache Gallery,
Bandra, Mumbai, from 27 - 31 March 2015. CPAA's Piali Syam curated the
show for which Salva donated part proceeds to CPAA.
New Delhi: A summer workshop was organised in the Vishram Sadan Complex
on 30 April for childhood cancer patients. The young and enthusiastic
executives of CIPLA volunteered to guide the kids in the painting
activity. Saskia Rao-de Haas, the internationally acclaimed Cello player
enthralled the children with her lilting music.
