The
IBN Lokmat Channel invited CPAA's Neeta More(Executive
Director) on 30 November to participate in their live talk show on the
topic 'Oral Cancer and Ill-effects Of Tobacco Habits'.
Cancer patients and their relatives were treated to a Grand Christmas
Gala on 19 December at the Radio Club, Colaba. An
entertainment programme was organized for these patients. Santa
distributed gifts to the patients at the fun-filled party.

A
Breast Cancer Awareness program was held on 5 December at
Sashastra Seema Bal, Ghitorni, New Delhi and a Breast and
Cervical Cancer Awareness program for the Mahilla Battalion
and wives of jawans and officers. Dr Geeta Kadyaparth, breast
cancer specialist from Max Hospital shared her experiences and motivated
the young audience to take their health in their own hands by doing Self
Breast Examination on a regular basis. An Anti-Tobacco awareness
program was also conducted the same day for the jawans of this unit.
Dr Mudit Agarwal, specialist in Head and Neck cancer from Max
Hospital gave a presentation on Prostate Cancer and the ill effects of
tobacco. The talk was very informative and enlightening and even
encouraged some of the jawans present to pledge that they would quit
tobacco.
A Breast and Cervix Cancer Awareness program was held on 12
December at the Coast Guard Complex, Noida and the Coast Guard Women
Welfare Association. Dr Geeta Kadyaparth from Max Hospital
explained the sign and symptoms and precautions to be taken regarding
breast and cervix cancer for early detection and prompt treatment
exhibiting different charts and pictures on screen. This awareness
program was attended by a 120 women who greatly valued the informative
talk.
A Cancer screening camp was conducted on 19 November at the
Rangpura Pahari Harijan Basti, Vasant Kunj and in the slum area of
Harijan Basti, Vasant Kunj.
CPAA set up a mobile Mammography clinic for the women of the
Malayalee Association, Faridabad on 16 December. Medanta
Hospital, Gurgaon made their mobile van and equipment available on
this occasion.
All
India institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Pediatric Oncology
Department organized a Parents Forum on 22 November. It addressed
the issues faced by parents of childhood cancer patients, especially
some that were recently diagnosed. Information on medication, hygiene,
emergencies, financial aid, railway fair concession and the support of
NGOs was given to them. CPAA's Rashmi Warty, Head of Patient Care
spoke on services offered by CPAA whilst the volunteers kept the
children occupied and entertained with craft activities and stories.

Delhi was invited by Deloitte, India as their NGO partner for
'Impact Day', a worldwide annual community outreach program held on
28 November. 20 enthusiastic volunteers of Deloitte conducted activities
like pot painting, card making, singing and interactive games for all
the childhood cancer patients at the Rajgharia Dharamshala, AIIMS.
They also distributed gifts, prizes, certificates and smiles on their
faces.
CPAA's Santa Clause helped spread Christmas cheer in the Pediatric
Wards of AIIMS Hospital at their Christmas party on 22 December. On
this day the childhood cancer patients going in for their Chemotherapy
to the Day Care ward were in for a surprise. The SMILE group engaged
them in fun-filled activities like Dumb charades, Antakshari, Passing
the parcel and many more. Prof. K.D. Sharma, the Medical
Superintendent of AIIMS joined the celebrations to spread Christmas
cheer too. This event was aired on the NDTV channel.

The
staff of CPAA along with Mr. Bhupendra Muzumdar and his volunteers of
Honeywell Automation Pvt. Ltd. visited the Command
Hospital on 22 December to distribute towels, biscuits, soaps and
talcum powder. His presence and words of encouragement uplifted the
morale of the patients fighting this dreaded disease.

childhood cancer patients along with their caretakers were invited for a
special screening of the movie 'Happy New Year' at Cinepolis, to
celebrate Children's Day on 14 November. The movie kept them
entertained while the snacks served were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
CPAA was invited by Radiant Heat Exchanger Pvt. Ltd, Bhosari, on
16 December to conduct a Cancer Awareness talk for their staff.
Dr. Jayant Gawande opened the talk on the subject of breast and
cervical cancer for women and later spoke about oral cancer and general
cancer for men. A lot of doubts in the minds of the people were cleared.
Hard Rock Cafe hosted a Christmas party for our cancer
patients on 19 December. Games and dancing preceded the scrumptious
snacks and high tea served. The highlight of the evening was the
customary dance performed by the staff of Hard Rock Cafe amidst loads of
cheering by all. Whilst the children received Hard Rock Cafe T Shirts as
mementos, the adult patients were gifted cakes and shawls by CPAA
volunteers.
A Cancer Awareness talk was conducted at Evan-e-Saifee Hall,
on 26 December, for a group of Bohri women. Dr. Chetan Deshmukh
was invited to speak on Breast and Cervical cancer. This
interactive session made the women aware of the various aspects and
myths of cancer. Subsequently, a lot of questions were also answered by
the doctor. |
